Faith

Faith is a gift God will pour out in your heart

Romans 1:17 and Hebrews 10: 38 declares that the just shall live by faith.

If you stop here you could get the impression that faith is a demand and achievement. God's word does not speak about faith as an achievement but as a fruit that is produced by a relationship with God.

Romans 12: 6 declares that God has given us all a proportion of faith. This means that you as a new born Christian has received a part of God's own faith. That is why God both is willing and works through us with his power. You have actually received a proporiton of faith and this faith can grow strong in trusting God.

How does faith grow?

Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Jesus said that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God. When you listen to the word of God through preaching or through reading the Bible your faith will get stronger and grow. It is very fascinating when Hebrews declares that word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. This means that when you listen to and study God's word the Holy Spirit will quicken and reveal the word for you.

God's word in the preaching of Jesus is compared with a seed. This makes a more clear understanding of what happens when we listen to the word of God. It does not manifest as a breakthrough but as a seed that is sowed into our inner being (our heart). From our heart it begins to grow heading towards the assignment God gave it. Your faith will grow if you continue to listen to the word of God.

The power of faith is in your heart
and can be released through your mouth

Romans 10:9-10 declares that if you confess Jesus Christ as your Lord with your mouth and in your heart believe that God has raised him from the dead you shall be saved. Pay attention to if you believe in your heart and with you mouth confess your faith is in your inner being, in your spirit. Your faith will only be released when you with your mouth confess and express what you believe. In Mark 11:23 Jesus said: "Have faith in God ”For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain , Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."
Again, if you believe in your heart and confess it with your mouth you will get what you confess. It is important to know that you do not get it like a magic formular. No, only if you believe it in your heart, your spirit (inner being). Remember that your faith is a gift you have received and it grows by living a daily life of prayer, worship and filling yourself with God's word.

Faith is fullfilled by acting on it

The letter of James declares that a faith without action is dead. That is why what you believe and say must be put into practise. The woman with the issue of blood in the Bible received her healing when she by faith touched the garment of Jesus. Peter walked on water when he by faith stepped out of the boat. The Read Sea divided when Moses by faith struck the sea with his rod. The lame man was healed when they lowered him through the hole in the roof. The Bible declares that Jesus saw their faith.

We do not speak about the faith in faith
but the faith in God

Faith is not a technique but a fruit that is produced by a relationship with God. You can not use God as a butler to get your selfish desires. No, you must get to know God and submit under his will and you will by faith with great boldness receive what the word of God has promised you. The Bible declares that all his promises through Christ has got their yes and amen.
